COMPUTER LAB RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS

  1. You must print and sign your name on the Computer Log
    at the Circulation Desk.

  2. You must write the correct time you signed in and which computer station you wish to use.

  3. No food or drink is permitted at the computer station.

  4. Do not alter the computer settings (screen resolution, internet homepage, desktop icons,
    etc.) without the express permission of the Library Staff.

  5. Military personnel| in uniform have priority access to
    all computers.

  6. Use of the Library's Computer Lab is at your own risk.

  7. It is your responsibility to
    pick up your print-outs at the Circulation Desk. Make sure you only take your own
    print-outs.

  8. Use caution when giving personal information to web sites. We have
    good anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-phishing software, but no computer is totally secure.

  9. There is a
    30 minute time
    limit on all computers when
    we have a waiting list.

  10. Games are allowed to be played on Library computers as long as there is no waiting list.

  11. If you need to print more than 10

ComputerLab

Your library offers a well-equipped Computer Laboratory
available to all library patrons.

Twenty-nine computer stations, each with an Athlon 64 processor
and 1 gigabyte of memory, running Microsoft Windows XP
and Office XP software displayed
on a sharp 17" flatscreen monitor.

Computers

INTERNET

High-speed internet access provided by Suddenlink Cable
allows patrons to check web-based e-mail, perform online banking,
or just surf the World Wide Web.

SECURITY

Security is provided through Symantec Antivirus and
Spybot Search & Destroy 1.5
software. Our network routers
are also equipped with hardware firewalls for even greater security.

SOFTWARE

Microsoft Office XP software enables patrons to create
word processing documents, spreadsheets, or presentations for work, home, or school. Patrons may burn data to CD or DVD discs
(not provided) using Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 software. You
will also find photo editors, sound file editors and more
available for your use.

Our computers are equipped with personal headphones for private listening, and a DVD drive and software to watch DVDs or listen to music CDs. Front USB ports allow easy copying of personal data to increasingly popular USB "thumb drives" or "flash drives".

PRINTING

Each station is capable of printing to our central HP Laserjet 4350 printer located at the Circulation Desk. Printing is free,
but we ask that patrons provide their own paper
when printing more than 10 pages.
This printer is set to duplex (double-sided) printing by default.
Ask the Library staff for assistance changing printer options.

SCANNING

An Epson Perfection 2400 flatbed scanner and software
is available for use at the Circulation Desk.

For those with their own portable or laptop computers, the Library offers wireless internet access and wireless printing. For more information, please see the Wireless Internet page.
